This is a really nicely put-together book. The production and aesthetic work really well in that the book feels like a fine art object and resembles a logbook at the same time. The images are comprised from a sailing voyage from Göteborg to the Mediterranean made in 1959. There is also an accompanying booklet with an English translation of all the Swedish texts from the book.

This publication was made on the occasion of Pierre’s thesis exhibition this past May. The photos show red, green, and blue smoke interacting with the surfaces they come in contact with. I really enjoy this book because it feels proper being published on newsprint. The photos depict something that is fleeting and the paper stock will also vanish and change color eventually.

I got this book a couple of weeks ago at the New York Art Book Fair. I always love seeing Gottlund’s new books. I enjoyed this one especially because it reminded me of growing up in Colorado and the calming attributes of nature. As always, the book is put together really nicely. I love the soft linen cover.
