Photo Book of the Week – Fig.

Adam Broomberg & Oliver Chanarin – Fig.
Published by Steidl and Photoworks, 2007
ISBN: 978-3-86521-475-1

This has been one of my very favorite books for quite a while. The body of work is perfectly suited for book-form, I can’t truly imagine seeing it another way. The series is essentially a rebus of about 100 images; beginning with the site of a natural history museum, the collection of the Booth Museum, images of models, hunting trips, passport photos, refugee camps in Uganda, etc. I became so interested in the book that I ended up naming my cat after it (Fig, minus the period).
